Brief Guides to UKCES and CfBT Education Trust reports

Posted: 23 November 2009

LSIS have released two more Brief Guides.

One covers the UK Commission report on employment and skills reform. In a broad call for the reform of the employment and skills systems, and their closer integration, the Commission calls for a new system for rating providers and courses, simplification of the skills system, and increasing support and funding for intermediate level skills.

The other is to the CfBT Education Trust report on the Education Maintenance Allowance, which is a payment of up to £30 for students aged 16 to 18 to allow them to stay in school. The report, written by Mick Fletcher, calls for the allowance to be continued and expanded during the recession, and for it to be expanded to younger students.
