Careers in the 21st Century

Posted: 21 December 2009

Are you a manager, adviser, tutor, assessor, coach or mentor with an interest in careers learning, information, advice or guidance (CLIAG) in the learning and skills sector including Adult & Community Learning, Work-Based Learning and Offender Learning? If so, you will be interested in the work the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) has been undertaking for the DCSF and BIS working with providers to identify effective practice; promote CLIAG as a leadership issue and new approaches to careers education and guidance for young people and adults.

Join us at one of our FREE dissemination workshops to find out more, network with others and share your views. This is an opportunity to be at the cutting edge of developments in your area of work and influence policy and practice by attending a free workshop, held at a number of regional venues: Oxford, Nottingham, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Cambridge, Newcastle, York and London in January and February 2010. These events were very popular last year so please book early.

This will give you the chance to:

  • Explore the impact of the learner voice in delivering effective CLIAG using the World Cafe approach
  • Explore the Blueprint approach to developing career competencies for young people and hear about the trials of this approach in England and other countries
  • Explore CLIAG and leadership in your own organisation and influence the debate on what an excellent model of embedded CLIAG should look like
  • Network and share effective practice
  • Find out about how recent policy developments are going to impact on careers education advice and guidance
  • Learn about new CPD resources and have your say in the development of new materials

To reserve a free* place at one of the workshops below please book online at the LSIS website: www.lsis.org.uk/enrolment/enrol.aspx

* this is a free event but a £75 administration charge will be applied for non attendance, unless cancelled in writing one week in advance, as per our Cancellation Policy.
