LSIS Policy Update No. 25

Posted: 23 October 2009

Welcome to LSIS Policy Update Number 25, compiled by Ben Margulies. This issue of the regular policy news roundup covers the dates 5 to 19 October 2009. Ben writes:

In this instalment, we have full coverage of the Conservative Party conference, recently concluded up in Manchester, and the party's policies on skills, schools, welfare, local government, 'sunset clauses' for regulations and (perhaps most important of all these days), public spending. Some of them are quite sweeping. We also have news about unemployment, the continuing saga of the student loans backlog, the latest on the Equality and Human Rights Commission's legal actions against the BNP, and a workforce survey suggesting FE's labour pool is ageing.
