Measuring the impact of adult guidance - lessons from North East England

Posted: 21 July 2008

There has long been a concern that targets and other methods of counting clients of adult guidance agencies underplay and underestimate the true value of the guidance process. For all the talk of 'soft' outcomes there have been few examples of how this might be done.

Now colleagues from the North East, including Marie Brett (from Tyne and Wear/Northumberland); Eddie Costello (Tees Valley/IGEN) and Colette O'Brien (County Durham/CfBT) have combined with the Centre for Guidance Studies at the University of Derby to develop a framework to approach this concern. Their initial findings can be found in a useful new occasional publication from iCeGS.
