Derby
Tuesday 16 December 2008
2.00pm-4.30pm
As well as providing an opportunity to learn about new aspects of career guidance this year's annual lecture will give delegates the chance to take part in a stimulating and thought provoking 'Audience with iCeGS' following the lecture. This will give delegates the opportunity to put questions to a panel. If you wish, you can register your own question on the iCeGS website in advance.
Questions so far are:
- What are the challenges for developing career guidance services in areas that experience significant social and economic fragmentation?
- Quality frameworks: how can these be developed to be inclusive of cultural differences, for instance on the role of women in different societies?
- What is the optimum training and development for career guidance practitioners in fragmented societies?
The popular annual lecture is hosted by the International Centre for Guidance Studies (iCeGS) at the University of Derby and this year will be presented by Professor Ronald Sultana, a well known international expert in the world of guidance and education.
Professor Ronald Sultana, Professor in Educational Sociology and Comparative Education at the University of Malta will give the keynote presentation, hosted by Professor John Coyne, Vice-Chancellor, University of Derby. This will be followed by an audience with iCeGS: guidance and effective communities. This will give audience members the chance to question and debate with a panel of distinguished experts:
- Dr Helen Colley, Senior Research Fellow, Education and Social Research Institute, Manchester Metropolitan University
- Steve Stewart OBE, Chief Executive of Coventry Solihull & Warwickshire Partnerships Ltd, and iCeGS Practitioner Fellow
- Professor Ronald Sultana
- Professor Tony Watts, Visiting Professor, iCeGS, University of Derby
There is no charge for attending this event, however places are limited and you should book your place as early as possible.
