CBI surveys education and skills

Posted: 13 June 2008

Taking Stock is the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) annual survey on education and skills for 2008, published in conjunction with Edexcel. It is an analysis of business priorities in the field, and arises from a survey of board-level executives in British industry. As such, it raises a number of familiar issues and concerns: 'poor skills levels threaten business performance', 'getting the basics right remains a priority', 'apprenticeships reform necessary to better need business needs', 'employers demand graduates with relevant degrees and work experience', and so on.

Steve Besley from Edexcel also has a Policy Watch summary and commentary paper on this joint CBI/Edexcel venture.
