Opening up Opportunities through advice and guidance
Posted: 1 March 2007
This report by Heather Rolfe and Sadia Nadeem identifies a number of key issues and policy implications most of which are of direct interest to NAEGA members including:
- The access of adult clients limited by the level 2 rule to IAG services in England through nextstep is unhelpful. The criteria for access should be need rather than qualifications
- IAG services need to include mature entrants to Higher Education and closer working relations between IAG providers and HE
- All services need to challenge gender stereotypes
- Services need to be more informed by LMI
- Services need to give additional support to individual clients taking non-traditional routes into education, training and work
- The performance of IAG services needs to be measured in relation to achievement of diversity and equality objectives
This is well well written thought provoking report deserving of a wide readership.
