CeGS Career Guidance Week 2007: Who Cares About Career?

Posted: 2 March 2007

The Centre for Guidance Studies (CeGS), University of Derby will host its annual Career Guidance Week 2007 from 25 to 29 June.

The week will consist of contemporary themes, led by national and international experts who have made a significant contribution to skills, learning and work agendas. Its main purpose will be to enable individuals and organisations to:

  • engage with new and innovative policies and practices;
  • develop higher level skills and knowledge;
  • share and explore leading-edge research, theory and practice; and
  • contribute to new thinking in relation to current changes in education, employment and training for young people and adults.

Following on from the success of last year's event, we are now in the process of finalising the detailed plans for Career Guidance Week 2007. The key themes identified are as follows:

  • Careers education and the changing curriculum
  • The impact of guidance: building the evidence base
  • Guidance in the workplace
  • New approaches to Advancing Professional Practice in Careers Work
  • New technology and its role in guidance

The final programme will consist of keynote presentations and individual workshops which will explore new and interesting policies and practices. The outcomes from 'Who Cares about Career?' will form part of a major debate, with interested parties, on how best to drive forward the quality, management and delivery of career services for young people and adults throughout the UK.
