Posted: 20 April 2007

Seminars in London and York:

Tuesday 24 April
Methodist International Centre, London NW1 2EZ

Thursday 26 April
Park Inn Hotel, York YO1 6JF

The ageing of the British population has implications for the nature of the workforce, access to labour market opportunities and the need for training, advice and guidance.

Many people want or need to work on longer and the government is keen to encourage this. The Age Discrimination Regulations recently came into force, the future of adult guidance services is currently under review and government policy on skills, education and training is evolving in response to changing economic needs.

This seminar series is aimed primarily at people who deliver or manage IAG for adults, for example, staff from Connexions, Nextstep, Learndirect and IAG Providers.

It will inform participants about:

  • Demographic change and its implications
  • Age Discrimination Regulations
  • Leitch Review of Skills with its proposals for an adult careers service

It will also provide an opportunity for practitioners to:

  • Share experience of working with age diverse client groups
  • Provide feedback to the LSC and other national bodies about how services might best meet the needs of particular age groups

Speakers from LSC, TAEN (The Age and Employment Network), and NIACE's Centre for Research into the Older Workforce (CROW) will explain changes and issues for the future.

Arrival/Registration is at 10am for a 10.25am start. The seminar ends at 4pm.

Seminar Fee: £79 per person per event (to include tea/coffee and lunch)
